6 Useful tips for Grouting Tile Joints

Grouting is the last step to finish your tile project. If you are DIYer or the one who likes to like to do it all by oneself, this blog will guide you on how to grout your tiles like a pro. Check out the following –

  1. Choose the grout brand and material depending on the project you are working on. For example: grout for bathroom and kitchen backsplashes would be different. For kitchen, you should choose a grout that does not contain toxic elements.
  2. If you are unsure about which grout you should use, it is always wise to use the traditional grout – which is cement- or sand-based. It is hard, durable, and easy to work with.
  3. Match the color of grout with that of tile. It always goes well. However, you can play with the color, and choose something contrasting to create a dramatic appeal in your home interior. To change color of the grout, you can try mixing the tile dust or pigment into the grout mix.
  4. Use grout float to fill or apply grout paste into tile joints. Do not use trowel for this job. The metallic edge of trowel can scratch the tile.
  5. If you are not working on a new project, protect the tile surfaces around. Use masking tape and card board sheets to cover the tiles nearby.
  6. Wipe grout haze and excess grout using a clean, soft grout sponge only. Clean the sponge multiple times.

Hope these tips help you with grouting.
