Marble Tile Vs Marble Slab

Marble is the most popular natural stone in the world. Some of the world-famous buildings – The Taj Mahal – are made from marble.

When you use marble in your home, you add a naturally gorgeous, elegant, and durable feature to your home. But when you are out to buy marble, there are so many options available to buy from. We’ll not get into too many options. We’ll rather talk about marble tiles and marble slabs. These are the two basic options marble is available in.

Marble Tile –

  • Marble tiles are smaller in size than slabs. In addition, they can be available in different measurements and shapes, such as rectangular, square, hexagonal, and octagonal.
  • Since they are smaller in size, they might not have uniform veining pattern visible.
  • Marble tiles are thinner than marble slabs. To be exact, they are 10 to 12 millimeters thick.
  • When you use marble tiles, there are more grout lines that might make your floors and walls look busy.
  • Marble tiles are DIY-friendly, but slabs are not. Ideally, you should hire a pro for marble tile installation as well to get flawless looking home interior.

Marble Slab –

  • Marble slabs are thicker. Specifically, they can be as thick as 30 millimeters.
  • Slabs are more durable than tiles due to thickness.
  • The veining pattern on marble slabs is bolder than those on marble tiles. So, slabs make your space appear less busy and more beautiful.
  • Marble slabs should always be installed by a professional tile placer to avoid slab damage during and after installation.
  • Slabs are larger, so technically, they are more expensive than marble tiles.
