5 Useful Tips for Repairing Floor Tiles

Every flooring material comes with a promise of better strength and longer durability. However, there are times when even the most expensive flooring receives damages – sometimes because of inadequate installation and sometimes because of abuse.

This blog offers 5 useful tips you might want to follow while repairing your floor tiles –

  1. Use ceramic fillers to fill the chips and holes. Match the color of filler with that of your tiles. Let the filler dry, before sealing it.
  2. You can also use these fillers to fill wider cracks and opening on your floor tile. Again, match the color and seal it after drying. Alternatively, you can use siliconized caulk to fill the cracks; you can paint them to match with design on the tile.
  3. Broken tiles should ideally be replaced with a matching tile. Experts suggest that you should always 10% extra tiles. If you too order extra tiles, they can be used in one such condition. Replace them, seal them, and your floor is ready for use again.
  4. Old tiles can be painted. There are floor paints available in the market. If you feel that your floor design is outdated and boring, you can consider painting it. Ideally, you will need to apply two to three layers of paint to achieve quality finish.
  5. Loose tiles should be fixed immediately to avoid beyond-repair damages. Remove the dried adhesive from the subfloor and tile back carefully; mix fresh thin set adhesive and apply it on the subfloor; and place and level the tile.
