It is true that both porcelain and ceramic tiles are taken through extreme temperature during the manufacturing process. But did you know that the temperatures at which these tiles are fired are different.

To be specific, porcelain tiles are fired at higher temperature. This is done to achieve improved rigidness and durability in the product.

Different brands have different quality control measures. So, it is not necessary that porcelain tiles from different manufacturers should have been fired at same extreme temperature.

This is also the reason why porcelain tiles are denser, harder and stronger than ceramic tiles.

The Different Thickness –

Here, let’s begin with a couple of facts. Thicker tiles are not always stronger. Same way, thinner tiles are not always prone to cracks and damages.

At a number of times, porcelain tiles are thinner than ceramic tiles. However, they are stronger than ceramic tiles of same specifications.

Just for your information, ceramic and porcelain tiles have a thickness between 3 mm and 11 mm.
