How To Remove Food Colors From Granite Floors And Countertops


Granite is one of the best surface options for kitchen. Granite has impressive appeal. Its strength and other features make it a cost-effective and durable natural stone.

When installed properly, granite tiles and counters resist more than other natural stones do. However, when installed in kitchen, the stone always has risk of getting food stains.

Blot the Stain

Blot the stain with the help of a paper towel. This will allow you to stop the food color from spreading.

Talcum Powder & Acetone Paste

Make a paste using talcum powder and acetone. The consistency of this paste should be similar to that of peanut butter.

Spread the Paste

Apply this paste over the mark. Apply it past the perimeter of the stain.

Cover with Plastic Sheet

Lay a plastic sheet over the paste-covered stained area. Tape the edges of the sheet with the help of a masking tape. Let it be there for 2 days.

Remove the Tape and Plastic Sheet, and then, the paste.

Remove the tape and sheet and let the paste to dry completely. Once dried, remove the paste using plastic (non-metallic) knife or spatula.

Rinse and Dry

Doing so will remove the tiny remains of the paste. By now, the stain would have disappeared. If not, repeat the process.
